Federation Ultra Trail

July 29th 2018

Federation Ultra Trail 2018 (50k/25k/12.5k)

The inaugural Federation Ultra Trail will be held on Sunday July 29th 2018.
The run is a trail based event held predominantly on the Lavender/Federation Trail and will take in the new Callington Hill “Olearia Trail” with breathtaking views over the Bremmer Valley before descending upon the Frahn’s Farm Conservation Project area. The halfway point and starting place for the 25km Event is at Monarto Sports Complex where runners will pass the Monarto Zoo where wild African animals can be glimpsed and heard. The run takes in the stunning new trails of the Kinchina Conservation Park and wondrous Rocky Gully before a final burst around the wetlands and alongside the River Murray and under the 1st Bridge to span the Murray to finish at the trail head by the rowing club in Murray Bridge.

“UNLOCK AND LOAD” Level Up format:
Runners who complete the beast that is the 50km Ultra trail, will hold the key to “UNLOCK” Level 2 on their return to subsequent Federation Ultra Trail Events. Level 2 will be a trail extension of approx 12.5km or 25km and only runners who finish each Level can go on to “UNLOCK” a new level and increasing Federation Ultra Trail distance. Those that can defeat each year Levels distance will have the ability to take on, on either their 3rd, 4th or 5th successful attempt, the Ultimate prize, the 100km Demon that is the Federation Centurion Trail. The option is there to slowly work your way up to 100km or go big and do it within 3 attempts!
· Level 1: 50km (Year one)
· Level 2: 62.5km (Year 2)
· Level 3: 75km (Year 2 or 3)
· Level 4: 87.5km (Year 3 or 4)
· Level 5: 100km Federation Centurion Trail (Year 3,4,5)

We recommend you download the gpsies app and download the map to your smart phone. Course maps/ links are below and gps files on request. Total elevation gain/loss is 444m so compared to many ultra-trail runs this is a fairly fast course. The course is a bit sandier by nature and tends to drain really well in the wet. Kinchina C.P. is a bit technical with some rocky sections, so take due care.
